a little about me

Hello! My name is Dulcie Fairweather and I am wildlife enthusiast living in Aberystwyth, Wales.

This is my photographic portfolio, which features images of the natural world mostly taken while studying BA (Hons) Marine & Natural History Photography at Falmouth University. I graduated in September 2016 with a first-class honours degree.

I have been fortunate to feature in a number of national photography competitions, with shortlisted images in the 2014 British Wildlife Photography Awards,  'highly commended' in the OPAL Devon and Cornwall Wildlife Photography Competition 2015 and the RSPB Love Nature Calendar 2014. They have also been featured in various publications, including the BBC Wildlife Magazine. I produced a short documentary film, HOUNDED, during my final year of university.

My interest in nature began from a young age, inspired by countless adventures exploring Dartmoor and bird watching with my grandfather. Ultimately, it is my ambition to work in conservation - I am driven by a passion to protect/promote wildlife and the environment.

Since leaving university I have immersed myself with volunteering projects ranging from 6 months in a South African sanctuary, living and working on Skomer Island,  volunteering with the Dyfi Osprey Project and the Vincent Wildlife Trust.

I am currently enjoying a 18 month placement on the LIFE Welsh Raised Bog Project with Natural Resources Wales, while also assisting the Mid Wales Red Squirrel Project.

Please feel free to browse through the various galleries - I hope you enjoy looking at the images as much as I did taking them.
